Part of the Richard Bachman Series

Rage

211 Pages

Published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. Now out of print by King’s request

Charlie Decker is a troubled high school student who brings a gun to school, kills his teacher, and holds his classmates hostage. What unfolds over the next several hours is a raw, uncomfortable look into alienation, anger, and the slow unraveling of a teenage mind.

Rage isn’t a horror story in the traditional sense, there are no monsters, no ghosts, no supernatural twists. The horror here is real, emotional, and deeply human. It’s about the pressure cooker of adolescence, the cracks in the system, and what can happen when no one is paying attention until it’s too late.

King allowed it to go out of print due to its thematic overlap with real-world school violence, a decision he made out of conscience, not censorship.
